What is Hazel?
If you had a quick ponder around this blog, you'd recognise that quote is from the About Me section on the side-bar. I believe that small excerpt quickly communicates the purpose of Hazel. However, I would like to go a little into a little more depth.Hi there, my name's Antonia! I'm just a Year 11 student trying to survive VCE. This blog intends to share and document my experiences. While I can't say yet that I know the ins -and-outs of getting a great ATAR score, I hope I can provide sound advice and resources as someone who is currently in the midst of it all.
So, who am I? Well, no one special.
I'm just a Year 11 student, trying her best to get good results and finish school feeling satisfied.I'm just like every other studious kid. I don't have any credentials. I don't even know if the advice I offer will be necessarily amazing and allow you to get fantastic results.
Of course, you would probably want to know if the 'study advice' I will provide will work at all, even if it's just for me. Honestly, I don't consider myself to be a smart individual. I have got a good amount of perfect scores on my SACs this year, with the rest being over 90%. Well, except for the very first one I did where I got 74%. Shhhh, we don't talk about that one. I thoroughly understand what I did wrong, so hopefully that never happens again. Maybe that's a story for another time.
Sorry to all the actual smart students out there, but there won't be any specific information about any maths or science subjects. The majority of my posts will be about VCE in general, but I will have a few articles specifically about the subjects I do. Currently, I'm undertaking Legal Studies, Business Management, English, English Language, Health and Human Development and Product Design and Technology (which I'm planning to drop when unit three commences, I'm really not enjoying it). English is definitely my favourite subject and it always has been. Writing is my happy place. Thus, being the biggest reason in my decision to start a blog.
That's me! But what is Hazel exactly?
I chose to name my blog Hazel, as Hazel trees often symbolise learning and inspiration in Celtic folklore. I also find the image of a tree to suit the blog, as we often picture a strong, green and growing tree when we think of the plant. Additionally, us students can get stressed sometimes and nature is something that a lot of us can find comforting.
One of my aims is to create posts which cater to all kinds of students, from Year 10s wanting to better understand VCE jargon to general studying tips which could be used by a student on the other side of the globe. I have a bunch of ideas that I can't wait to share with you all.
As much as is this blog is about me expressing my love of writing and sharing my education experiences, this blog is also about you. Feel free to comment your opinion and your advice in the comments.
I hope that you decide to stick around and decide to grow together with me.
